Elections in the Dominican Republic: 2016 General Elections
On May 15, Dominicans will head to the polls to elect their next President and Vice President; 32 Senators and 190 members of the Chamber of Deputies; 20 Representatives to the Central American Parliament; 158 Mayors and Vice Mayors; and 1,164 local council members.
The 2016 general elections will be the first time since 1994 that Dominicans will vote for national and local authorities on the same day. The Central Electoral Board will also be introducing for the first time in Dominican elections the use of fingerprint verification machines at polling stations and an automated vote counting system.
