Guatemala’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal Launches 2015 Election Website

Published

The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) of Guatemala has launched its 2015 elections website with information for voters on the electoral process and voting procedures. The website also provides information on general inquiries regarding the 2015 election, concerns regarding transparency, political organizations and candidates, general voting information and multimedia components. Additionally, the site provides resources for the inclusion of persons with disabilities, women, the LGBT community and indigenous populations, including translations of this information into indigenous languages.

The site allows individuals to report electoral-related conflicts, grievances or acts of aggression.  Furthermore, the new site provides useful and helpful information through uploaded documents regarding electoral observation and civic education. In an attempt to make the 2015 elections more transparent and inclusive, the website also provides access to electoral results, polling station information, news, and financial information for political parties, campaigns, and candidates. The launch of the website was covered by local outlets such as Prensa Libre, Publinews and Emisoras Unidas.

Through the “Elections: More Inclusion, Less Violence” project, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems supported the TSE in the development and establishment of the site.
