May 17, 1997 Legislative Elections in Cameroon: The Report of the IFES International Observer Mission
This report summarizes IFES’ efforts in Cameroon prior to and during the May, 1997 legislative elections. The IFES observation team compiled their findings in this report which discusses the election process in Cameroon and the various political parties, campaigns and vote tabulation. The report discusses the lack of oversight and credibility that the elections suffered from.

“Democracy is Everyone’s Responsibility” is a Civic Education Booklet, available in Spanish, issued in 1992 by PARTICIPA, Chile. The booklet describes democracy and informs citizens of how they may participate in building a democratic society. By teaching the values of democracy to the readers and its importance, the booklet is meant to serve as an incentive for people to participate in creating a democratic Chile. “Democracy Can Also be Built in the Commune” is an Info-discussion guide, available in Spanish, issued in 1992, by PARTICIPA, Chile, in lead up to the June 28, 1992 Municipal Election in Chile. The guide provides a thorough description of the local administration in Chile, its election process and the role of the local authorities in the political life of Chile. The guide is meant to familiarize the Chilean citizens with the new reforms introduced by the political and social sectors in the municipal structure in order to bring the democratic process to the communal level as well. The guide refers to the functions of the municipalities, how they are elected and the attributions of the mayor and the regional councils. Additionally, the guide contains voting instructions and samples of election ballots, as well as an Election Calendar with the most important dates in the 1992 elections.

Manual de Educacion Civica
“Handbook of Civic Education” is an educative manual, available in Spanish, and published in 1991 by the PARTICIPA Corporation of private law in Chile. The manual is intended to serve as a source of information, for students, on the theory of democracy and the historic analysis of the Chilean institutional system. The book consists of 2 parts divided in 12 chapters, the first part being the theoretical part based on the chapter dedicated to the Human Being and the Human Rights, the Person and the Society, the Political Regimes and so on, while the second part focuses on chapters focused on the historical analysis of the Chilean institutional system. Some of the chapters focus on the following themes: the Constitutional Rights and Guarantees, the Regional Electoral Tribunals, and the Constitutional Reform. Additionally, it includes educational exercise samples after each chapter.

“You Also Decide” is an info brochure, available in Spanish, believed to be issued in 1988 by the CRUSADE for the Citizens’ Participation (“CRUZADA”) in Chile, in lead up to the 1988 Chilean National Plebiscite. The brochure is meant to stimulate Chilean voters’ participation in the 1988 Plebiscite. Additionally, it includes messages from various Chilean citizens addressing voters to come out and express their right to vote, as well as it provides short texts about how voting can change a society into a democratic one.
