Learning by Gaming: Democrapoli
Within its civic and voter education campaigns in anticipation of the Malian communal elections, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), in collaboration with the Nigerien NGO Groupe de Recherche Action sur la Démocratie et les Systèmes Electoraux (GRADSEL), has developed an educational game called Democrapoli: Elections Communales Mali (Communal Elections Mali).

Guide Pratique de L'Agent Electoral
“Guide Pratique de L’Agent Electoral” is a guide, created by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Local Collectives in Mali and available in French, which provides instructions to electoral agents to follow for the 2004 Communal Elections in Mali. The document, published in 2004, contains instructions on the set up of polling tables, lists of materials available and instructions and diagrams on vote counting.

Strengthening the Local Electoral Process December 2002 Local Elections. IFES Final Report
This report summarizes IFES involvement in Benin’s 2002 local elections. The 2002 elections served as a precursor to the 2003 legislative and 2006 presidential elections. The report discusses IFES’ implementation of a two-phase voter education campaign attempting to bolster transparency and voter confidence throughout Benin. The report details IFES coordination with local NGOs, Media outlets and the decentralization process in Benin. The report concludes with recommendations for future election.

La Commune en questions…
“La Commune en questions…” is a pamphlet, available in French, intended to instruct youth in the importance of Communes in the wake of the upcoming Municipal Election of 2000 in Mali. The pamphlet, published in the year 2000 by the Mission of Decentralization, is split up into different chapters covering topics such as how communes are organized, who works in communes, how representatives of communes are chosen and what youth can do in communes. Each chapter ends with a citation from a legal text which covers issues of decentralization.

This report serves as a pre-election assessment concerning Municipal elections in Benin in 1998 and 1999. The report discusses IFES support and technical assistance provided to civil society through the training of electoral agents and civic education. The document analyzes elections that took place in 1995 and applies the lessons learned to the 1998 elections.

“Votons!” is a political flyer, available in French, which features a comic strip explaining how to vote. The flyer was made available by the Independent National Electoral Commission of Mali in 1997 in order to encourage citizens to vote in the 1997 Presidential and Legislative elections in Mali.
